A compelling hero is made by the flaws they carry with them. You can be flawed, in a good wayNew to The Outer Worlds is the idea of flaws. Your choices affect not only the way the story develops but your character build, companion stories, and end game scenarios. KEY FEATURES The player-driven story RPGIn keeping with the Obsidian tradition, how you approach The Outer Worlds is up to you. In the corporate equation for the colony, you are the unplanned variable. As you explore the furthest reaches of space and encounter various factions, all vying for power, the character you decide to become will determine how this player-driven story unfolds. Ninja edit: this is assuming it's not on Humble Choice like others in this thread are saying.ĮDIT 2: Not in Humble Choice, so if you're looking for a sale, I think this is it chief. The Outer Worlds is an award-winning single-player first-person sci-fi RPG from Obsidian Entertainment and Private Division. However, it's a pretty fun and quirky game with eye-catching graphics and landscapes, meta anti-capitalism humor, okay gameplay, and a halfway decent plot.

There are very few (if any) RPGs that will surpass Fallout: New Vegas or Skyrim in terms of engaging story and freedom of choice, so Obsidian really set an astronomical bar for themselves that of course they couldn't top. Here's my review of it from an older thread: This is the best sale I've seen of this game in a while. The bundle normally has a soundtrack for $10 more which I normally wouldn't recommend getting, but since the whole bundle is discounted, there's no reason not to get it if you're interested. I once said during a $40 The Outer Worlds sale to wait until the bundle or game + DLC is under $30, so this would be it. Lost in transit while on a colonist ship bound for the furthest edge of the galaxy, you awake decades later only to find yourself in the midst of a deep conspiracy threatening to The Outer Worlds is a new single-player first-person sci-fi RPG from Obsidian Entertainment. Even at this price, it's tough to confidently recommend like a lot of Obsidian's other titles.įor sure, it's one of those games where the sequel might set the world on fire with a bigger budget and some concept refinement based on feedback. Summary: The Outer Worlds is a new single-player first-person sci-fi RPG from Obsidian Entertainment and Private Division. It might be worth checking it out on Game Pass first. It's not as good as the games that it takes inspiration from, but it has its charm, a fun set of characters, and a setting that gives up some interesting scenarios at a decent pace. So this is Obsidian trying to do a lot with a little. If the Microsoft deal hadn't come along just before release, I don't think Obisidan would still be around. This was kind of a Hail Mary on Obsidian's part, since at this time they were apparently in dire straights. (There would've been some great drama in there, if it wasn't always trying to look for ways to inject more humor.) And the gunplay is, eh, about on par with New Vegas, for better or worse. It leaned into a more humorous tone, which didn't always land. By virtue of being a space exploration game, the world is segmented. It was advertised as kind of a New Vegas successor, but in reality it's more like New Vegas-lite. The game was first released on Epic Games Store and Microsoft Store on October 25, 2019, followed by its release on GOG.com and Steam on October 23, 2020. I really enjoyed TOW, but there were a lot of expectations that it didn't exactly meet.
